The Redoing of Vladimir Schneider’s Velvet Touch Razors.
A few months ago I had the pleasure of placing the winning bid on Vladimir Schneider’s Velvet Touch razors that he put up for auction on eBay. After owning those for a couple of weeks Vladimir contacted and wanted to try putting CA (cyanoacrylate or superglue) on the scales in order to add a gloss to the Purpleheart wood which was used for the scales. He also wanted to put his insignia on the scales plus etch the blade with his insignia. I agreed to let him do so. I mailed the razors and the box back to him so he could perform his talents on these already nice looking pieces of art.
When I received the razors in the mail I could not believe the gloss on the scales. The grain and color of the Purpleheart wood really stands out with the CA on them. The insignia on the scales is really outstanding and so intricate. The insignia etching on the blade is so cool plus it really makes the razor look nice. Vlads talents and skill on these razors are so nice it is just a pleasure to sit back and look at them. He also honed both razors to the point where they shave very well. So his skills in that area are also outstanding.
Enjoy the pictures.

Those are the kind of razors Id have to really debate whether to just show off or actually use....They are awesome, especially in a set.

I have to say that those brass bolsters in the shape of Vlad's trademark/insignia just take it over the edge. That's like the frosting on the cake.

Thanked: 8Fledgling restorers ?.
Doesn't fledgling sound like wallowing in mud, up to your eyeballs in crap and everything turning to custard around you. And when you crawl out of the crap something further up the foodchain swallows you up.
I look at Vlad's work and am amazed at his skill, thinking how on earth do I achieve that standard.
Then Bill comes along with his giveaway and raises the bar even further.
Great stuff both of you, keep it coming.

Thanked: 8Peter, don't let them put you off. I look back on my original efforts and cringe.
Our peers are here to guide and assist. If something is technically wrong or there is a better way of doing something I would rather hear about it. How can we improve otherwise ?.
I've had a few very nice comments from both gentleman and it's very gratifying I can tell you. I certainly keeps me motivated and wants me to create something better every time.
So I say keep your efforts coming.

I'm a say it's oooookaaaaay! The insignia came out better than I'd imagined on the bottom pin. I shouldn't be surprised though.
