Thanked: 114Naval Jelly Rust Remover?
Hello, everyone.
I have a relatively new razor that I apparently didn't store dry enough, leading to some black spots (patina?) on the blade. Lynn's DVD (which is extraordinary! – highly recommend) suggests using MAAS to clean blades. I have a jar of Naval Jelly. Will this product work or will it irreparably harm my blade? Or should I simply not worry about patina in the first place?
Thoughts?

Navel Jelly is acid and will do more harm than good for that application. A little oil on 0000 steel wool is good for removing surface rust without scratching the surrounding finish IME. A good metal polish such as Maas, Semichrome or Flitz on a paper towel will help to polish it up. Any metal polish will remove gold wash if that is an issue so be careful. Whether patina is acceptable depends on the individual. It won't hurt anything if it is not affecting the shave.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 114Thanks for the quick response, Jimmy. I have some 0000 steel wool in the garage somewhere. I'll give that a go and stay away from the Naval Jelly.
