Default Which one would you choose?

    Hi,
Which pattern would you choose for a custom straight razor from aesthetic point of view?

    I'd make 2!

Second one's width is 4 cm so pattern won't appear on the razor fully..

I suspect that with either bar, the grinding is going to remove some of that nice pattern. You'll wind up with the nice stuff on the spine though.

I'd go with the second one if it were me. Once you are done the grind, heat treatment, and final grind you can etch the steel to show the layers of the steel. Then put your scales on & hone. The bevel will the the only "shiny" part, the rest will have that beautiful layering effect.

    Thumbs up

I'm with the rest, #2 all the way!! Use the outside edge of the bar for the spine and when you cut away it will look like the pattern is falling off the blade edge. Very cool!!

Pattern number 1 for me. While number 2 is more aesthetically pleasing, it also seems like something that came out of a printing press. Number 1 is strange and unique.
