polypearl scales?
once upon a time many moons ago I started on my first restoration. so far I've gotten the blade as bright and shiney as I think i can without messing up the lettering on the flat of the blade and I've gotten the scales cut and drilled and sanded down with 600 grit.
now to the reason I'm posting here. I'm wondering if anyone has worked with polypearl and has some tips for getting a nice deep shine out of it, and if i should just go straight to the buffer or try 1000 and 2000 grit first like I did on the blade.

I wouldn't imagine that polypearl would shape up any different than celluloid or acrylic. If that's the case, I've had great success doing all my shaping at 100 grit, then straight to 220, then right to wetsanding at 2k. After the 2k, it's a good several minutes hand massaging some polish on them and they shined up like a brand new penny.

If you've got the funds, get some of these pads (micro-mesh) and take 'em all the way up to 12K, then some plastic scratch remover, then some renaissance wax, and you will be good to go!
Be sure to buff out all visible scratches at each level before going on to the next. The poly pearl should start looking pretty shiny at about the 4000 pad.

I tried to wait till I got some advice, but I already sanded them with 1000 and 2000 then buffed them with white ruge. I got a pretty good shine out of them ,but I might have to look at that renaissance wax though.
