    Sorry for the confusion. Familiarity with a thing lets you assume everybody knows what your talking about. Ren wax is Renaissance micro-crystalline wax polish. See! Ren wax is easier to say and spell. Google it. It's good for everything, leather , marble, razor steel, scales, ivory, houshold pets- well....maybe not pets.
    The price will seem steep for the amount but it goes a looong way. Has many advantages over a paste wax and is worth it.
    The Flitz might polish metal by dissolving it to a small degree chemically. I don't think I'd test it on a hard earned scale finish. gsixgun suggested Turtle wax rubbing compound- that's what I used. I just went smoother with a finer polish, used by car freaks for a mirror finish, prior to waxing.
    I'm normally not about a perfect finish, but after my last scale effort in musk ox horn, only perfect would do.
    ps The rubbing compound came from an auto parts store.
