Default Cleaning between Scale and blade

I've got several opaque (see-through) razor scales that are gunked up at the hinge between the scale and blade. ( I assume all of my razors are gunked up whether it can be seen or not)

How can I best clean this up? Do you tend to remove the pin to remove the blade and then clean the scales or do you run something between the scale and blade.

I can see using thin floss soaked in cleaning fluid.

    Any other techniques?

Aside from taking it apart, I think floss/thread/wool with your choice of cleaning substance is the best bet.
