So far I haven't found any silver rod for pins, has anyone ever used aluminum for making pins. That I can find in 1/16th.

I've tried it before. I found it much less malleable to peen than brass or nickel/silver. Occasionally you can find the nickel/silver rods on Ebay for a reasonable price.

Pure silver, I imagine, would be to soft(and expensive) to use for pins. Sterling silver might work, but I wouldn't know where to find it.

on a side note - has anyone been able to located nickel silver or aluminum washers? I've been looking to put a blade in aluminum scales but stainless won't work and brass will offset the look
