Thanked: 1Anyone have a source for replacement scales?
Classic Shaving seems to be sold out of everything I'd be interested in. I have a 5/8 Wapi that's 4 3/16's from the center of the pivot hole to the end of the blade, and a 6/8 Peaso Special that's 4 11/16's.
I was hoping for stabilized bone, but would be almost as happy with the likes of resin or micarta. And I like the look of three pins.
Thanks in advance -

Gentleman's best up in southington, ct used to cut scales out of about anything. I know Roy is moving his shop but you may still be able to get in touch with him. I think he also changed the name to razors and lasers or some combination of that and gentlemans best. He put a set of micarta scales in the mail to me last week so when they come in I'll post pics so you can see them.

Thanked: 1Well, I Googled his website and phone #, but neither one works. Do you have current contact info by any chance?

I'm on my phone right now but this evening I'll see what I can find for you. I wish I could remember Tue name of them, I've seen them recommended on here before but there is a company in Florida, iirc, that carries vintage scales along with a good selection of other shaving supplies (they have an omega travel brush I plan on purchasing as soon as I can find Tue web address again)
Also, Larry over at whippeddog.com is doing some rescaling with a black acrylic. I'm not sure if is sells the scales solo but he's a nice guy and may part with a set on their own.

Hunh, I can't seem to find Gentlemen's Best. i'm wondering if Ray took down the site during the move. Anyhoo, I've never used these guys but the prices at The Superior Shave are reasonable: Vintage Strops, Hones, and Scales for Straight Razors
Another source to try is The Invisible edge. They're out of the UK so shipping may take a while but they seem to have a great selection: Razor Scales & Pin kits

Thanked: 1Thanks, that first link looks especially good. Odd that it doesn't come up in Google searches for things like "straight razor replacement scales". Just tried it again to see how I'd missed it.

Try a search for vintage straight razor scales. That's how I found them after I lost the bookmark...

The Superior Shave has a few listed under vintage scales, no bone though.
