Default So many choices, I need help!!

Allright everyone heres the info. I am looking to restore a shumate razor I purchased from the flea market. This is going to be my very first resto attempt. The scales are fine, the blade itself has a bit of discoloration and no pitting that I can see just yet. I am a welder for a living so I deal with metals all day every day. There is a boatload of stuff that I have found here but I'm getting confused. I live in NYC and I have tried to find formax stuff in the area so I could just go get it rather then wait for it to be shipped. Theres a huge machinists supply shop around here called Travers Tools Co. These guys have yet to fail to have something I need. After fruitless searches at homedepot and lowes I realized I was a member of Travers and started to browse the online cata.

This is the page that turns up if you search compounds.
    compound**>>**Abrasives, Files & Deburring | Travers Tool

Does that page list everything I need? Do I need to bite the bullet and order a formax set of stuff? With the above listed page, what quantities and shopping list would you guys put together? The travers storage facility is 10 mins from where I sit right now and I could walk in and purchase my stuff and be out in less the time it took me to get there.

I have every intention of hand restoring the blade with sandpaper following a progression (150,180,240,320,400,600,1000,1200,1500,2000).

I need a few grits of the above sandpaper, so Im gonna go to the homedepot and get them. The sandpaper should be enough to get the job done. I do however want to get the needed compounds for a slightly more difficult job.

I'm sorry guys I write this stuff as it comes to me, so I know its a mess. Please bear with me.

In closing, if a few of you could browse through travers I would greatly appreciate a recommended shopping list.
I appreciate any and all help you guys are able to send my way.

PS my camera battery is charging right now, the min its done Ill get some razor pictures up.

i'm in the middle of my first restoration so i am by no means an expert on this subject. i pretty much lived on this wiki site when i was hand sanding the blade: Hand sanding a blade - Straight Razor Place Wiki. if you're looking to use machines for some other parts, try looking at UNDREAM22's video on youtube. he has a whole 12 part restoration process.

hope this helps! good luck with the project.
