Default Any link on Straight Razor disasembly?

I've been going through the posts but haven't found how to take the pins out to completely clean the entire blade piece on a restoration.
Sorry I'm new and trying my hand at restoration.

    Oh yes.

gssixgun has made a phenomenal guide to pinning/unpinning.

You'll find that and so much more in this sticky from the restauration sub-forum

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

The safest method of those posted seems to be the file and patients (I use a jeweler's file); Dremels and drills can drift easily and damage scales and flush cutters can place some pressure on the scale opposite of the pin you are cutting the head from. I have used flush cutters with success but I have also cracked scales that were too brittle for any amount of pressure.

I'd also suggest looking at Glen's post about some-tricks-popping-pins-out as I've run into more issues removing pins than removing the head of the pins, and Glen's post on the subject (like most of Glen's info) is something that should be seriously considered.

    **EDIT**
    fixed link

It seems to be a dead link...

If you don't care about the scales, I recommend just tapping heavily on the pins with a punch and a 16oz ballpeen hammer. Not that I would know from having tried to unpin a razor without reading the wiki first. It will free the blade. And beak the scales. Or so a friend told me

    Str8Shooter,

If you choose to use flush cutters wear eye protection and cover the razor & cutters with a cloth !

I was cutting off some pins from an old French razor (the pins I later found were steel); when I tried to cut through, one of the blades of the cutter broke off at great velocity and took a divot out of my safety glasses

There is also the danger that the severed pin-head could fly off and injure you.

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ
