    Default Black Spots

Hey all, my Dovo 5/8 has these strange black blobs on the backside of the blade, and it seems like the metal has a brown, rust-like hue to it. Is there a way to remove all this? Should i be concerned? Or am i just not maintaining the blade properly? Usually i just strop the blade about a dozen times after washing the hair/ soap off the blade, and put it back in the case. Thanks for any advice.

The box is an incubator in a sense. Dry it of, wipe black spots with a polish like Maas.

Ideally, something like this may be a better routine. After finished, wipe the blade with a dry washcloth, maybe hand strop it on the cloth. If any moisture in pivot grab your gal's hair dryer. (caution pending scale material) Strop on linen. Leave the dried blade open laying on the cloth or open in rack an hour or longer. (no critters for me, so I leave open for the day) Wipe down with oiled cloth. Close and store out of the box in an open rack away from humid area such as shower.

With that all my blades are fine, minus a few specific vintage ones still always get surface color., not including Dovos.

    Wipe down with oiled cloth.
I think that's the best thing you can do. If your razor is rusting, dry it as well as you can, and then _oil it_. Any mineral-based oil will do -- there are long discussions in the Forums about which one is best, with no conclusion.

I've used 00 steel wool with the Maas. rub lightly. If you need to, follow up with some 2000 grit sandpaper to polish.
