what size pin holes in acrylic ?
Hi guy's, I want to make some scales out of acrylic. I looked around the forum for the info I want, but didn't quite find what I was looking for.
I don't have my rod for making the pins yet, but I'm thinking of using 1/16 rod, something silver looking.
I'm wondering if I should make 1/16 holes, or something a tad bigger just to make sure that the expansion of the rod in the hole when peening won't make the scales crack. I don't know how important or negligible this expansion is when peeining, since it will be my first time doing it.
Thanks in advance for the info.
Glenn.

Thanked: 2591If you go for 1/16 rod then you need a pin hole that is slightly larger as the rod's diameter might vary slightly, and you need to have some slack for the scales to adjust when pining.

As we're being slowly overtaken by the EU I couldn't find imperial bits in the UK, but 2mm works great as well.
