Can this be honed out?

I was working on this razor with some sandpaper. I had a small but powerful magnet near by and did not realize it was too close. Well, the magnet attracted the razor and struck with a good amount of force causing this chip. It seems that if the chip were removed the edge would be into the etching.
I like the razor and would spend the time to hone it out if it would be worth the time. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

well technically yes, but I am not sure the blade will shave as well since the size will be reduced but almost 1/5 of the original. If it were me I would not bother.

I hate to see this happen to a good looking razor, but I personally would not bother either. Hopefully it has some nice scales you can cannibalize for some other project...

I am sorry for your loss also. I guess I'll just hold onto the razor and see down the road. I really liked the design on the blade and was using 3000 Grit just to take some crap off the blade when I moved my hands to close the magnet. I had taken a hard drive apart to use the magnets and just did not place them far enough away.

How about grinding the blade out into something like this ?



It's not perfect, but the chip is gone, you keep the etching as well as the overall width of the blade.
