Default Sources of 8/8 replacement scales?

I have an 8/8 that came with scales that look like they were installed by a drunk monkey. The pivot holes are incredibly uneven, it doesn't close anywhere near centered and -- worst of all -- the point contacts the spacer.

Everywhere I've looked for aftermarket scales has 5/8 and 6/8 offerings, but nobody deals with the big boys.

I'm not really equipped, power-tool-wise, to make my own scales, so I'm holding out hope of finding something out there that I can just drill and pin. Any leads?

revisors site has a spares section with some nice wooden scales for 7 - 8/8

    Ersatzteile

E-0017, E-0019 and E-0021, I've got a wade and butcher with scales I'm not to keen on, so was thinking of one of these

Vintage Strops, Hones, and Scales for Straight Razors

I found these guys to be pretty much what you need. I got the black marbled jobs and they were more than ample for the 5/8+ blade I was working on. Further down the page from those are the magnums.

The readily made scales never fit great in my eyes. wedges aren't correct for THAT blade, the shape doesn't match, the length is always too long...
If you cannot do it yourself I would suggest sending it to a member here to be done correctly.

I'm pretty much convinced that's the right way to go. I think I'd rather have someone else do it right once, than do it wrong 3 or 4 times myself. I have an enormous number of other projects I can be messing up while an expert fixes this razor.

May I suggest Dave Stephens - member name "cannonfodder".

He is quite the craftsman. I have several of his scales on my razors.
