Like dirtychrome mentioned, pay key attention to the thickness and length.
Deer is not that dense in horn or antler. they don't last long after hitting the forest. I hunt all the time and find it too soft. I'm liking Giraffe but not as easy to find in our size range. I've got some that is REALLY nice but I need to rip it down first as they are about 1/2" thick. OK by me as it gives me more material to use. I have a friend with great tools to take that on. I also have some Kudu horn that is perfect and I love the color pattern. My tools are no where near the size to take on pet store cow bone and also I want to get it stabilized prior...
