This is what my stupidity did to this beautiful blade.

Dangit, I was so happy with the way it was cleaning up. Such an idiot...

I have seen and done worse. You will lose some of it but it looks like it can be saved.

What has to be done to it? Does it have to be ground, or just honed?? It seems to me, since I don't do my own honing, that someone with the skill to fix it must have a go at it.

    Who????

Being as the shoulder looks close, I would recommend someone like Glen or Max to do it. That way they can take it down some. Better results that way.

I'm still a noob with all this and will be for a long time still, but i have been using Dremels for a long time and I noticed that you use the sanding bands and you have a stone there...
I'm definitely 'Not' an expert with straight razor restoration although wouldn't these be better for restoration?

512E EZ Lock Finishing Abrasive Buffs 320 Grit (2 Pack)

    and
    511E EZ Lock Finishing Abrasive Buffs - 180 & 280 grit (2 Pack)

They will flex and bend to the blades shape, Even though they said that they are finishing abrasive buffs, the 180 and the 280 will still take a lot of metal away and they last for a long time.
Also because they use the EZ locking system, if they do catch on something there is a fair chance they will just fall off rather then just grip (i have that happen a few times throughout my dremeling day)

    EZ Locking System

Also when i dremel anything that has an edge i push the edge into a towel or cloth that pulled tight so the dremel cant quite reach the bevel\edge (or what ever I'm sanding\polishing at the time) and obviously keep the dremel spinning towards the edge not against it.. Anyway like i said i am a noob..

I hope you can fix it! i would cry if that ever happens to me!

Edit: the above is what i used on this razor + a dremel polishing wheel to buff out the marks First Restoration Attempt – T.R. Cadman & Sons Sheffield England - Bengall

Yes to the towel trick. I recently blew up a blade I was just finishing. I fold the towel and make a thick pad and push the blade a bit into the towel. The padding seems to absorb the vibrations from the dremel. I hand rub and only use the dremel for final polishing with a couple different grits of emery paste.

Very interesting to watch, I recently removed a ship in another manner, but think this way much better and easier
We need more of these videos so that we can learn from the professionals.
What stone was used to ship out of them. (My english is not so good and it went a little too fast for me on video)
