Thread: Inlaying?

I have a box that I believe was at one time a cutlery case from the 20's-30's, wich has seen its better days. I sanded it down to get rid of the minor scratches/imperfections, and stained it a darker color to hide these imperfections. It is by all means a bueatiful box as it is now, and I could just put a couple finish coats of varnish on it and be done, but I want to add a personal twist to this box. Do any of you have any experience or suggestions when it comes to designing, inlaying, or links that will help with the basics? I am also open to and would love design suggestions! I am of German/Irish heritage and have been googling inlayed furniture examples, with no success.
