Thanked: 12Gold leaf
My other obsession is pinstriping and gold and silver leaf. Straight razor bug is new. any other gold leaf or striping nuts on here? I ask cuz I think it would work well for scales(engine turned gold leaf ) with epoxy or automotive clear. If you know of any examples I would love to chase down pics.

Gold leaf on some sort of media, and clear coated with epoxy resin could be a stunning piece. I have had great results with System3 MirrorCoat for the epoxy resin.
My circutboard razor http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...ers-blade.html and Dexter themed razors http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...-butchers.html are examples of taking something and covering in the epoxy resin to create a smooth, uniform seal.
Thanks for the mention of the http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...ld-scales.html
In addition to that, I posted another of same technique http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...ph-elliot.html
Those were done with gold flakes mixed with epoxy resin on brass liners. 'The Real' I used gold leaf on top of the brass liners to soften the look of brass that may show through thin edge areas of the media. Details of how I did those are listed at both those links. If any other pointers with what I did there, let me, happy to try and answer.
I also have done some wedges with same technique such as the Dovo at this post http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...ous-shell.html and this one http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...id-scales.html
Not trying to 'self promote' I had a kick doing those, and hope they give new ideas for othersLast edited by dirtychrome; 07-27-2011 at 04:04 AM.
