Default Can't sand into the shoulder. :(

so I'm starting to restore my Yankee full hollow, and I'm handsanding it due to a lack of a buffing wheel and a slight trepidation after reading the "restoration is dangerous" sticky.

I've got the whole thing sanded except for the shoulder. I can't seem to get the paper into the corner enough to remove any material. Could this be due to using 60 grit paper to start? I've got the patina mostly gone and I'm working on the pitting now. I thought I'd start with 60 because its what I had, and the next coarsest I have is 100 and I thought that would be too fine to be effective at first.

try eraser , cut it so that you get an angle profile wrap the sandpaper around and try.
The eraser will allow for more pressure when sanding in tight spaces.
    Geezer and 96firephoenix like this.
