I clean my blades with alcohol after every shave, and since alcohol is a deseccant, corrosion is not an issue. Especially since I keep my razors in a very dry place.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a dry place in Houston, TX :-( All my carbon steel razors sleep standing up in a mug wearing a thin coat of 3-in-1. That seems to be working...

I'm glad I live in Canada. Except for a month or two in the summer, the air is fairly dry year-round.

Hehe yeah. Except for that ungodly summer one or two years ago. Every day felt like 90% humidity. Ugh, that sucked.

I took some more pictures so that you guys can see my satin finish as compared to my mirror finish.

The mirror finish is a dubl duck goldedge sanded from 400 all the way up to 2000 and then polished. I don't have any 2500 grit yet, or I'd have used that as well. Unfortunently the high polish isn't a flawless mirror finish, in very well lit conditions at the right angles you can still see the grit from the 2000. In standard room lighting, however, the thing is a mirror and I love it Just to reitterate, the satin is an F.W. Engels at 400 grit only and then polish.

Man, that's some nice work. I like the satin finish alot, but that last mirror finish on the dubl duck looks great too. Great work...what kind of scales are you going for and will we get to see them when they are done.
