    Default Washers..

Silly question, but are the bearing washers the same size as the washers on the outside of the scales? I only ask because I vaguely remember reading a post that said bearing washers are a bit wider.. If they are wider, are they still 1/16" and how much wider do they need to be?
Also, if anyone knows where to find 1/16 ID tubing for my domed washers, I need it in brass and nickel (or cupri-nickel). Thanks a bunch guys.

I use the #00 wide from Microfasteners for bearing washers and sometimes as a first washer in a stack, so for me yes they are the same washers.

Stack? Thanks for the answer I'm going to use the normal washers for the bearing washers and make domed washers for the outside. (Vlad's method)
One more question.. How do you know when to use a bearing washer or when you shouldn't? Is it just preference? Also (sorry) is it a bad idea to use a bearing washer to rescale reusing scales that didn't previously have a bearing washer? Could that warp scales or damage them? Thanks again

stack is a set of washers stacked on top of each other like this:

I always use bearing washers on all razors I restore.

Maniaman, what are those washers you use? I have the 00 and 00 wide from microfasteners, but want to do a triple stack rather than a double.

I took one of my liner lock knives apart for cleaning the other day and the bearing washers used are HDPM plastic, we have a ready and cheap source of this material in the UK, milk containers! HDPM is self lubricating and hard wearing and a 1 Litre container would yield a dozens of bearing washers for razors, It's worth a look guys!

This might help for info on the washers

    http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...fasteners.html

That shopping list has everything to make those Triple stacks, or doubles, or singles, or even domed

And the internal bearing washers, which you might also like to learn in the Workshop sticky about thinning them down too
