Thread: Where to find acrylic you ask?

I know it comes up from time to time where one can find materials for scales. While I do purchase mine from a few different places there is nothing like getting some free stock every now and then.

Check in with your local Glass Company/store (auto glass as well as home and industrial) they often have small scrap sized pieces or broken pieces that they will gladly give you.

Case in point, today I stopped at my local store and asked. Today was my luck day. The had culled through there stock and had 29 sheets ranging from 18' x 20" to 4' x 6' of 1/8 Optical Acrylic in Red, Clear, Smoke Grey and Bronze.

Yep I was more than happy to help them get rid of every single piece.
It just goes to show you it never hurts to stop and ask.

I'd like to get some of the acrylic that Glen has used on some of his restores.
I just love the mottled type ones but I have only found plain colours at my local signwriters.
I'll just have to keep trying.
