Thanked: 2Hello,
I got some duck tape carpet tape today. Its very vey sticky and I think it has a fiberglass backing. Im a little worried when I split the two scales apart I might crack one of them. Next time Im going to go with two or three smaller pieces instead of one large piece. Im also going to try the piece of paper and a little superglue if the double sided carpet tape breaks these scales when I split them. Its going to be another late night grinding/shaping wood and g10 :-)
Thanks for the info guys,
Chris

Would hot-melt glue work? It won't shift (once it cools), and it seems to have a weak bond with wood. Maybe it's just strong enough for the job?

I've been using double sided turner's tape for years with excellent success. The residual sticky leftovers I sometimes have are easily removed with goo gone. It's my to go tape for holding my scales together. Couldn't live without it in the shop.
