how to spell ideot..ediot...idiet...ME!!!
Have been saving these scales for my big Tally-Ho until I'd gotten more experience with lined wedges, mosiac pins, ca finish, ect. They are to date the most expensive scales I've ever bought. I wanted to turn this razor and scale combo into a family heirloom. Well I got the lined wedge and scales glued together and was removing the alignment pins when I wraped my pinkie finger aruund the scales and I heard a loud crack. It only took a second of lost concentration and they are ruined. Cracked and hanging by a thread. Tried to get ca in th
e crack, but it dried before I could even close the gap. Won't ever try that again. I'm sure I'll find something to use what's left for some other
project, but my BIG plans are dead. Well maybee some nice burl or horn is in my future. Kelly will have to wait a little bit longer to do the hon
ing. At least I'm getting my appetite back after this sickening stupid move. Live and learn. Even if it hurts. Thanks for listening to my whining
all, Don.

It happens to the best of us. You swallow and move on as much as it can be devastating. Better luck next time!

Big thanks to Max & Joed for their graciousness. Notice that both are VERY experienced? A word of grace from guys this good is like good medicine for the head when you're feeling miserable.
I have no doubt, Don, that your future work will be very good. Those that don't acknowledge that failures were part of their learning are most likely not being truthful. I so appreciate the experienced guys helping us stay away from the impression they never fail or make mistakes. If we think they never do, our first failures will keep us from pressing on - experimenting, practicing, etc.
Thank you both, Max & Joed. You do us a great service. Stay in the saddle, Don. You'll do some fine work!

I have several sayings that I always think about when things go wrong.
-If at first you don't succeed, you're like everyone else.
-It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up

Yeah, I think I might try to splice a strip into another set like an inlay and use the rest for wedges. Thanks a lot.
