    Default Removing scales

Can anyone give me a quick down and dirty on removing pins without damaging the scales? I have a broken razor but would like to use the scales in the future....thanks!

1 - don't try to pound out the pin!!!! that only peens it over farther and tightens it up!.

2 - some people drill out the top peened part of the pin and then tap the rest thru

3 - i got a tungstun metal drill bit (its very small for 4$) for my dremel and i use that to basically shave off the top peened part of the pin. if you are really carefull u won't ding up the washers but usually i don't worry about the washers cuz ill either get new or won't use in the future. so it works easily and then i just put a thin nail at the tip that i just shaved off and GENTLY tap the pin thru the rest of the scales. has worked easily and nicely so far no problems.

in conclusion. you have to remove the peened end of one of the sides of the pins then gently tap the rest thru.
