It has some pitting. I am going to leave some I think it gives it character. We have an apricot tree in the backyard. One branch has been dead for years i cut a chunk off to use for the scales. Was going to use Tung Oil to finish them. Would love to hear what you think. Thanks in advance

Jeff, the blade looks solid and it appears that the pitting is restricted to the tang. Any pitting along the edge will make it more difficult to restore.
I have never used apricot wood before but the Tung oil gives a great finish.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing how it goes.

I like that Str8, it's got potential!! And you've got moxy, I think that very important when deciding on doing a project like this, do a lot of reading, downloaad videos and go slow, not reason this restore should be done quickly!! I usually do one thing as well as I can and give my self a rest before starting another step in the proccess. i.e,: do the repinning and rest before I buff out the rivets heads and so on, gives one some needed perspective on just how well the project is going.

That's just me 2 cents[USA money that is] YMMV

Good luck, were all pulling for ya!
