    Default Ornate scales

I visited another forum member recently and one of his razors (I think it was an old boker) had a really nice set of scales with checkering over most of them, and floral looking ends. Unfortunately, one end was chipped off.
Is anyone reproducing the old, ornate scale sets?

One of the stranger hobbies I enjoyed for a time was radio-controlled, scale model submarines. The really nice ones are all 'garage workshop' made. A friend of mine has the equipment to take a mold from an original, and pressure cast duplicates in poly or epoxy resin.

If anyone has an interesting set of scales they'd care to loan for the experiment, drop me a PM. Making the mold is completely non-destructive (a room temp self-vulcanizing rubber is used).

Sounds like a great idea. I hope someone takes you up on your offer. Photos of scales are always enjoyed here.
