This is after the 600 grit. The perfectionist in me says I should go back to the 400 to get the last little pitting out that I missed. The realist in me says to let it go lol. I'll sleep on it and see what I decide.

So I decided to go back down to 400 for a while then take it up the grits and finish with 2000. I'm hoping I spent enough time on each grit.
Should hand polishing be enough? I'm definitely not brave enough to put them on a polisher, I would send it out if that was the case.I'm a sucker for a stamped tail. Giggity.

That can be polished out by hand, I would start with a cutting compound before a polishing compound. It looks like you are doing fine.

Awesome, thanks! Would a mothers or a turtle wax brand cleaner polish work to start?

The polishes could take a long time. While you can try I usually start with a true cutting compound and Turtle makes a cutting compound.

Yeah I'm with ya. I'll have to see if I can snag some from the store tomorrow.
edit to add : I'm thinking that would also be good to try on the scales to clean them up.Last edited by dewey81; 10-31-2011 at 02:19 AM.

Well the blade didn't turn out half bad for a first timer, if I do say so myself.
The problem is, I was just finished giving it a final wipe down and it slipped.....
I shot gssixgun an email to see if he had any ideas. I would like to keep the good scale on because it has the molded Crown & Sword Logo on it. GrrrI'm a sucker for a stamped tail. Giggity.
