    Default re-scale?

I picked up a joseph rogers razor on ebay that looks to be in pretty good shape. Got the blade cleaned up and it's looking good.

Unfortunately, the scales were leaning a bit to one side and in the process of fooling around with them, I broke the end clean off. Doesn't look like it will be an easy repair, so I'm thinking of finding new scales?

Where would I look for them? (I guess I'd need pins too.) I don't want to spend a bunch of money on them; I got the razor for less than $20...

Thanks! This would be my first restoration/rescale...

Pins are just 1/16 brass rod from the hobby shop. The washers you can get from microfasteners. There is heaps of great information on the sticky for the workshop.
I know there is a couple of places that sell pre-made "generic" scales. I have just made my own so far.

    Good luck with the rescale.

Bro! I just posted on an other forum about this very thing I'm like you did'nt spend alot for the blade and did'nt feel good about spending alot on restoring it so, $4.50 for a block of birds eye maple and I made my own scales, all hand made, no power tools, sandpaper, files (used a drumle on the rusty blade) plus it now has the look I like and its' got alittle of me in it. It's also relaxing.

Here's an idea. I have a handful of scales from old razors. PM me the dimensions of your razor, including the linear distance between the pivot hole and the toe, and I'll check my stash. If one fits, I'll send it to you for free. The scales are just collecting dust otherwise.

Thanks guys! Ultimately I'm not opposed to making my own but maybe not quite yet? Although it doesn't look too hard...

diyguy, I'll measure the dimensions as soon as I get home from work today and PM you. Thanks so much!

I'll also check out the sticky...and microfasteners :-). Thanks
