Rays Shop Tour
Conroygc ask me to post pics of my shop on the dream tools thread. I don't want to hijack that thread so I am posting pics and doing a shop tour in a new thread. The shop is a mess right now. I have done several projects without cleaning up out there but here goes anyway.
About a year and a half ago I started remodeling my garage into my own man cave/dream shop. The remodelling is done but I still have a few machines left to get set up.
Photo 1 the door, my variable speed Delta drill press, air compressor, belt grinder with 12" disc on one side and 2x72 belt on the other (Now that I am into razors I am planning to rebuild this grinder so I can use a variety of wheel diameters for grinding various hollows on razor blades), Trash can, 6x48 belt sander with 12" disc on other side, my little heat treat oven is setting on the slef just above the sander along with other various tools, right kinda behind and to the right of the sander you can see my portable 12" planner.
In photo 2 we are going to start with the 12" planer, then there is the 6" joiner and my table saw. the shelves above hold most of my power hand tools. Wood clamps are in racks in the corner by the garage door.
Picture three is of my stereo shelf. I used antlers and buck scull for shelf brackets. Having suround sound in your shop is way cool!
Pic 4 has my 17" wood bandsaw on the left, One of my workbenches with a dedicated reloading bench in the corner, The shelves under the reloading bench hold peanut cans full of empty brass.
You can se just the head of my Hardinge TL 10 tool room lathe.
Pic 5 we'll pic up with the Hardinge lathe, next to that is my Burgmaster turret drill (this is one of the machines I still need to get set up), in the middle of the room is my other workbench with drawer storage under. This bench has a huge 6" vise at the near end that is an extremely strong vise, the other end fo the table has a wilton wood vise and a wilton pattern makers vise. Oh ya, I almost forgot. My pallet jack usually isn't in the garage but I am int eh middle of changing the load tires on it.
Pic 6 is of the far corner. You can see the edge of the burgmaster turret drill and my Whitney Roper kick press (great for making custom washers). Tucked behind the burgmaster is my bel air metal bandsaw (another one of the machines I have yet to set up). In the corner is my Hardinge DSM 59 turret lathe, Then my baldor buffer. The Hardinge UM milling machine (I have a vertical head for this but right now it is set up ad a horizontal mill. Behind the vise you can see my little 8" metal shaper. I have this running but I am eventually going to have to take the ram of and do some scraping to get rid of some wear and make it cut more true). You can barly see the edge of my Deckel GK21 pantograph. It looks like I also missed the American watch and tool room lathe in the corner that sets to the left of the door. In the ceiling I have two access hatches for storage in the attic.
Hope you enjoyed the tour guys

Almost LOL. Most the stuff I make out there is much smaller. Mostly fly rods and ocasional knife. I am really itching to make a razor from scratch. As soon as I can get a digital control on that little heat treat oven and get my grinder rebuilt there will be no stopping me.

You boys better take closer looks at those pics. That shop is filthly. My father was an old school prototype machinist before he retired. He looks at my shop and just shakes his head. He can work all day and at the end of the day still eat off his floor. He was trained in that "clean as you go school of machine shop". He has tried to teach me that way but it only half took.
