Default Crappy Tire Special : Rotary Tool Set

Hey guys, was at crappy tire today and saw this on sale for $9.99

    http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

The equivalent Dremel brand tool is $60, and this one has a variable speed which the Dremel does not. Also comes with 36 pieces including cutters, buffers, sanders, polishers, etc.

Also Crappy Tire sells a 300 piece accessory set on sale right now for $18

    I couldn't resist.

Just a heads up for us Canucks

I have one of those and the quality isn't in the same neighbourhood as Dremel, but the price sure is right

I got pretty good use out of it when modding computer cases.

Oh definitely, but at 10 bucks a pop, you can buy 6 for the price of one Dremel

For light work I think it'll be pretty good

No question. I think for a lot of the polishing and grinding jobs associated with razor restoration, you might find this tool to be just fine. I found I had some trouble with it when using the cutting disks on 1/8" steel and stuff like that, whereas other users had no issues with Dremels cutting the same material. But for wood, polishing and smaller grinding jobs, these are A+, especially at $10. I'm almost tempted to get a new one

The Cdn Tire grinder is larger and heavier than my Dremel (I have both). For fine work, the Dremel is way better. For rough work, the Cdn Tire grinder is very handy -- the extra weight buys extra power.

After burning out 2 variable speed dremels, I gave up on the brand and bought one similar to this (just different color plastic..i bet its the same internals). It has done everything I need it to. Won't be going back to Dremel branded.

I have one very similar to the one we're talking about here, and it does the job fine IMO. I will add however that my wife bought me a 150 piece Dremel accessory kit and the Dremel stuff is WAY better. In particular I'm talking about the wire wheel and the grinding stones etc, the cheaper brand ones disappeared in no time.
