grr..
My inteligence is insulted. Here's where people get to say I insulted my own intelligence, whatever that means
This is the restoration area and I said 'worn' razor, as in 5/8 on on side of the blade and 6/8 on the other side 'worn'.
To restate the question and ask again.. is it still foolish to use a dremel for the 5/8-6/8 scenerio?
the point of a 8k norton tip wouldn't be to finish the edge. I figure a 8k drum tip would be very fast and could get the razor very straight very fast THEN hit the 1k a few laps, then move on to 4k-->8k.

It's not advisable because you'd need to reestablish the bevel and would waste a lot of metal. For this kind of thing, I'd recommend Bill's CD for starters. If you don't have it, here's what I'd do if I were you:
1) Take the blade to a belt sander.
2) Start off by only touching the underhoned part of the blade to the belt but still both the spine and the edge with equal amounts of time on both sides (face and back)
3) As the edge finally becomes even, even out the pressure so you establish some sort of a bevel with the sander before going to the 1k.

Are you kidding? I invented the sense of humor.
After reconsidering, now I wan't a belt sander with 20k grit sandpaper belts.
