this is why I either use a "pink pearl" type eraser or the back end of a small paint brush handle that I cut off to apply pressure to the sandpaper... When you slip there is much less of a chance at gouging your hands than the eraser or handle.

Repetitive task create comfort and confidence. Sometimes those can create carelessness. It happens to all of us.
I have been engraving custom knives for many years and I still get bit sometimes. I tape up the blades but sometimes the tip of the blade works its way through the tape as I work on the knife. About half of my work T-shirts have a hole about the belly button where the tip of a blade has sliced as I turned in the vise while making a cut on a scroll.
I also dropped a knife one time. My reaction was to save this very expensive knife so I stupidly stuck my foot out to keep it from hitting the floor. Yep you guessed it. The thing was sticking straight down through my shoe into my foot.
Its just part of the game. When you work with sharp things your gonna get bit when you let your guard down.
It will will heal up quick enough just take care of it and keep it form getting infected.

Chicks dig scars, Rune!
Keep some Neosporin on it the first few days and you should be golden.
I know that's a product we don't have here, so if you need any, I have a few extra tubs of it.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
