How do I get rid of big chips. Sorry I don't have pics

You eat them. If you are not into chips yourself, your kids will love them.
Whether you use sauce or not depends on your definition of chips (fries or potato chips).


The only way to get rid of chips is to simply regrind the razor and grind away enough material that the material where the chip used to be is all gone.
For big chips, this means using a belt sander or (if you are careful) a dremel.

be EXTREMELY careful doing this not to heat up the blade. use a slow belt speed if you can regulate it, and regularly dunk the razor in water. you can't do it too often.

or breadknife it on sandpaper until the chip is nearly gone, then hone the rest out.

pictures would really help though in suggesting what route to take.

While care should be taken, razors are not 'that' fragile.
Steel loses its temper at temperatures that are much, much higher than what you can hold without causing 3d degree blisters.
As long as you can hold the razor in your hand without then strong urge to drop it, it will be just fine.

If you use fresh belts or sanding drums, and don't linger in 1 spot, you won't damage the razor.

the edge heats up a LOT faster than the part that you're holding will though. lots of people that are new to razor restores often don't realize this. (note the big amount of blue-lined razors on ebay)
