Once again, thanks for the compliments. I am pleased with the workmanship on this one. There are only a couple of things I would have done differently. They were those same kinds of things we all discover when we have completed any project.
The thing to do in these instances is to remember what those things were for the next similar experience. I think that is how we improve and eventually come up with acceptable work.
What I have done here with this razor, y'all could do too. Remember, I have a few more tools than most of ya. No mills or anything, but I've got a nice variety of tools and that was a big help. That gave me a head start on some of you.
I also had help with some of the stuff that helps separate common work with something a little nicer. In this case, it was Vlad who made the stencil with Josh's name on it. He did a great job and it saved me about $30 rather than have it made by LectroEtch. Thanks, Vlad.
My CD covers a bunch of this stuff, but you would still need to practice a bit to get it down. Just about everything in that CD, I learned through trial and error... a lot of error. I'm sure it's the same with you guys... if someone showed you once, in person, how to do something, you could do it yourself from then on. I keep threatening to hold a workshop, but don't know if I will ever find the time to plan it out. I guess the solution is for all y'all to move to Sanger... :) Well, not all of ya.
Some of you have already demonstrated this same skill with the scales you are making. If I could have you for a day, there would be no stopping you. I have been seeing some real talent out there. It took me years to produce, for instance, what Vlad did in just a few months. I have three of his pieces of artwork in my favorite rotation of razors and they take up most of my display area in my little corner of the bathroom.
I guess my point is that I would wish for all of you to wind up with a sense of satisfaction from puttering around in the garage doing projects of your own. It's time to get some dirt under your fingernails..
Now, all I worry about is if Josh will be able to shave with it. :o I know it feels right, but we'll have to see. Because of the blade width, the functional shaving angles are really going to be pronounced. Under the nose might really be a bitch. I'm going to try to mail it out today.

It'd take a BIG pillow! That is a damned fine piece of work, Bill. The last time I saw a blade that big, it had an Amish guy behind it and four draft horses in front of it.
