Default Taylor Eye Witness Wedge in Cherry Burl

I had this razor for a while, but I just got around to cleaning it up. I have a few before pictures somewhere, when I find them I will post them also.

The washers are homemade. I used a stamp punch to make them, but I am not happy with them (first attempt, so time and practice is needed to make better ones I guess). I have some collars and washers incoming, I plan on repinning this razor then.

I am very happy with the scales. I cut this curl down a few months ago, sliced blanks from it and let it dry out. Only minor checking and cracking to a few of the blanks. I used some left over bone for the spacer (also not too happy with it), when the new pinning supplies arrive I will likely reshape the spacer into a wedge.

I used a clear arcylic finish (6 coats) - sanded from 320-1200 progression, finished with some turtle wax. Lastly I think I am going to have my friend shoot the pictures from now on - I suck with a camera, and she is a professional photographer. No brainer really.

    1. I love the wood and the scales in general. PM inbound shortly.
    2. The wedge needs to be a wedge, not a spacer, given the thinness and flexibility of your scales stock.

An example to illustrate. An arch is weak when pushed from the underneath side. That's what your scales look like. Using a wedge will give your scales an outward bow, which uses the principles of an arch to give even very thin scales strength.

Make the wedge where the pivot end is two to three times wider than the spine. That will give a nice bow.
