What would be my best plan of attack to clean this razor up. What ever is on the blade seems kinda sticky.

It might be rust. Honestly I'm not sure what it is. Its raised off the surface and a little sticky feeling. And i have the basics. Plenty of sand paper and the basic garage tools.

All I really want its to get it to a point where its not gross because of age and is something I can use.

    Thanks,
    Matt

It looks like pitting and though I am no expert I suspect the scales might be gassing on you causing that. After you clean it up put it aside and check it every day. if it's the scales in a few days you will see more rust forming. make sure you keep it away from any other razors you have until you know for sure. If it is the scales they will have to go.
