Apart from ending up with somethign you can use, you get valuable experience in working on a razor. Even if the project fails, that is valuable experience if you are interested in restoration.

Grind it out. You can't ruin the blade. Just make sure you remove all of the crack.

I gave it a shot and......
Tada it worked. Took a bit to get all the crack but it now is a very functional shaver. Nice feel and balance.

Did you by chance pick this up in San Angelo? I was looking at a similar one at an antique store, crack and everything. They were asking $80 for it. I hope you didn't pay that much.

No I actually bought it on eBay as a two blade sale. Very cheap. About 45 for the two I didn't look closely at the pictures and failed to read the bit about the crack. But it worked out wonderful and I have a new favorite shaver

Good deal. I'm glad you're happy with it, salvaged it, and didn't chuck it. Looks good to me! Even better since you're happy with the shave!
