    Default Paper, canvas, linen?

Were the vintage bakelite (now known as Phenolics and Micarta) scales made with paper, canvas, or linen?

Most of the old Bakelite scales were all resin without the layering of paper, canvas or linen.

What Charlie said. You can see this easily when you try to snap them. They usually break cleanly without much effort.
