Default Black Water stains are stubborn

I am frustrated by spots of black stains on a blade. They polish off easily by hand with only a few rubs and then they return before I can finish a shave. I have been oiling the blade right after I polish off the stains but when the oil comes off the stains return in minutes.

I'd recommend more polishing until you get down to more healthy steel. After that is done, apply Renaissance Wax or some other wax to keep the water off the blade. Works for me.

What medium are you using to polish the blade? I would try Maas or Flitz to polish it up, that should keep it from getting tarnished quickly.

If you need to concentrate the polishing to single sections like a spot, you can apply the maas with a pencil eraser.

Flitz was the first thing I started. Then I went .1 micron iron oxide. I used the slurry from a finishing stone the last time. I guess some metal needs to come off.
