Got # 2 ready for scales.
My second resto and first without scales on it.All hand sanded and Dremel with Mass. Waiting on some tools and parts to rescale. Will be using some old scales I found at the antique store for this one to learn with.

Amazing how nicely it cleaned up. Looks like it was made yesterday.

It's amazing what a good restore can do to an old razor. If I only saw the first picture I would have thought it was not salvageable. Great job!

Thanked: 13249Very impressive work there
I can tell you from experience that they are very good shavers, I haven't met a Shumate yet I didn't like

Thanks everyone!
This one was in some ways easier as it didn't have the scales getting in the way like the last one. But did find after I hit it with the Mass I moved up too soon at some point and some fine sanding marks remain. But still very happy with this being only my 2nd attempt.

I need to get some better lighting or something so I can see better to know when I can move up in grits. Would a loupe with an LED on it be a good purchase for this you think?
