$16 Wade & butcher find
Found this W&B yesterday at an antique store for $16. A little rust and some pretty inconsistent hone ware. Scales are in good shape a bit of cosmetic issues is all.
This might be better suited to the honing section but I was wondering about the hone ware is this just a job for some circles on a 220 or in need of a pro before going ahead with the restoration? It appears to sit without the stabilizer touching.

Thanked: 247To best serve the forum, I won't give my opinion of what needs done to the edge. I will say it looks wavy, and beyond my talents. But I'm subscribed now, so I can see what the experts say, and compare my assumptions privately. Looking forward to seeing more of that sandpaper magic you perform sir.

It seems to sit flat but I to would like to hear from the pros before going ahead with the project.

Well it seems the spine is flat on one side concave on the other. Didn't think about looking for that as I'm still new to this.

Part of the fun of hunting for vintage blades You never know really what you’re getting into till your there
That said I wouldn't worry about it till you went to hone it. You’re picking up someone else’s blades that may have not been honed in symmetry. Clean up the blade and pay attention to wear patterns on the spine and edge to see if you can spot a pattern to the previous owners stroke.
You have a good find and hope that everything turns out just fine
