Thanked: 8Iwan's DD
Hi All,
This is Iwan's DD that needed new scales.
Black maire with brass wedge and brass 3rd pin spacer. I came out not too bad.

Looks great!
I really like the grain in that wood!!
HOw hard or soft is that wood?? What is it finished in, or is it just sanded to that gloss?

The finish is sanded to 2000 grit, coats of tru-oil and then waxed with briwax.

That is a gorgeous wood, I don't think I've ever seen any quite like it.

As usual nice work Gary. I especially like the first pic with all the parts.

That's just stunning work Gary, really beautiful. there is a problem though, I think I need to find more razors which need new scales after seeing that!
I picked this up on ebay for $40 a while back, the scales were warped but the blade had virtually zero hone wear and was in very good condition. After I polished it with a Dremel, I sent it to Lynn to be honed, but when I got it back I felt it deserved some really special scales since the blade was so good. I think these complement it perfectly.
Looking forward to shaving with it now!

Really nice workmanship Gary. Now that you have the belt sander and more time I am looking forward to seeing more of your scales.

Gorgeous work, Gary. I would say that "not too bad" is an understatement.
