    Default blueing the blade

Has anyone ever tried blueing the razor blade using the blueing gunmakers use to blue guns?

I think this might look great. what do you think?

I've done it, and it works well. Not as durable as gun bluing, because you have to use cold blue. IMO, hot bluing would ruin the temper of a razor. I'd love to do the plum colored bluing, but it requires heat. For quick touchups (and even total bluing of the shank and/or spine) you can use a bluing pen, made by Birchwood Casey. I don't think bluing the whole blade would look good, but as accent I love it.
    Just my $.02.

I've used both Oxpho-Blue and 44/40 from Brownell's. These come in gel form that stays put and is easy to work with. The more coats you apply, the deeper the resulting blue.

    Yep!

I 'blued' the tang and spine of my wade & butcher in my posting here (Restoration): " My Sort of restoration/customization"

It came out to more of a mirror-black.

I think the bluing will come off the spine with honing/stropping.

    IT does!

That's how I got the blueing so straight along the spine !

I just honed off the overlap
