Thanked: 6Boker scale replacement
I bought a boker red injun razor at antique store with broken scales so i decided that if i can make knife handles i can make razor scales as well. i decided to use osage orange, or hedge as most know it. i made them exactly like charley lewis instructs on his videos. worked great too. after shaping them and glueing in the wedge i realized that i had NO washers that size. and what do you do when you dont have what you need? you make it of course lol. so i preceeded to make 6 tiny little brass washers was time consuming but not hard. and befor you know it i was done with them. cut some pins out of 1/16 " brass rod. peened everything together and then tung oil went on. two coats were a applied and i think it turned out great for my first razor rebuild. i had alot of fun doing this revamp and could deff. see myself wanting to continue doing them and in time dip my hand into razor forging as i already do knives. but not having a belt grinder is the hard part for the hallow grinds. thanks for looking.
