Experiment...Rust Removal

I was reading the thread posted by gssixgun, and his testing of the alcohol. This got me thinking about when I heard molasses was a great slow acting easy on the metal rust remover. I got a pm from another member who said they had wondered the same thing so, why not try it. I took a rusty old crap blade poured some molasses in a small glass and in she went. I heard it takes a few days. I will update with pics to note progress. I will guess that when we see no noticeable change between pictures that the molasses will have done all it can do.

I was at work during the 12 hour mark, so here is the blade after 14 hours.

There ya go... Just try this stuff out, if it works, great, if not then ya know for sure

deighaingeal, I know they sell molasses by the gallon jug. I have never had need to buy a larger size though. Now i am off to google to see how big of a container one can get.

For the folks wait for me to chime in and have something to say ... I've heard of this from a friend of mine and wondered about it. I'm very curious to see the outcome. Good to see more results based testing.

On the farm we used to get it in 25 gallon tubs.
That should be enough for a lifetime of razors.
