Frameback restoration - anything unusual I should look out for?
'Evening all,
I returned home from vacation last week to find my latest manifestation of RAD awaiting my return: a frameback T-I. While the scales are shot and will be replaced most likely with horn, the blade is not too bad at all. Mostly just patina with a tiny bit of pitting.
Now, this if my first frameback restore. Are there any particular quirks or stumbling blocks I should be on the lookout for? I'm assuming that as the blade is so much thinner than the wedges and hollow-grounds I have worked on so far, I'll have to be extra-careful with heat buildup. But other than that is there anything particularly odd about working on these beasts?
Thanks!
