    Default Pivot Crack Salvageable?

Any info on if I can save this scale would be appreciated. The crack isn't all the way through, but if I attempt to remove the pin I am sure it will break. I was thinking maybe a liner would work. I would normally not attempt to fix a pivot crack, but I don't think it will be easy to find a replacement scale. I could make one, but just wouldn't be the same.

If you cover the pivot pin with electrical tape and carefully file the pin down past the peened over cap, I wouldn't think it would cause any additional stress on the crack. Just take it slow and don't apply any more pressure than necessary to that area. Good luck!
