So much for keeping it original.
I just picked up this razor locally. Paid almost nothing for it!!!
I de-pinned, cleaned up the blade and left it matte finished.
I was going to put it all back together, and snapped the celluloid scales right
at the pivot pin hole.
Now I have to try to make some custom scales. I'm thinking rosewood???? thoughts and suggestions would be welcome. I'd like to make this look nice for once

I don't believe that's it's the materials you use that are "going to make it nice". It is the design and, ultimately, the workmanship that will decide how it looks. And most importantly it is your personal tastes that will have to be satisfied to make it acceptable or not. Being more of a traditionalist, I have seen rescaled razors that I thought looked atrocious. But many of the members drooled over them. You would probably do better by going through the "show and tell" and the "custom builts and restoration" forums and looking at the photos there to find the style and type of material that pleases you most. Because, in the end, you will be the judge of whether it is "nice" or not.
