    I have heard recently that this is easier said then done. Be sure to get plenty of abrasive and wait for a long weekend. The stuff is hard!!!

    Bead blast the base,and upper sides,find a machine shop to surface grind the top (one pass it will look like new)
    Mask, paint the sides,great project,or just do it all by hand.
